vivo just recently unveiled the X Fold6 in China, and alongside it, a new set of premium wireless buds. The vivo TWS 5 Pro buds look pretty unassuming on the surface, but actually deliver quite a few premium features.
The earbuds feature a dual-driver acoustic setup consisting of a custom ultra-miniature balanced armature co-developed by vivo and Knowles, paired with a self-developed dual-ring dynamic driver. The two drivers are arranged in a coaxial acoustic architecture, aligning the acoustic centers of the high and low frequencies for improved coherence. According to vivo, the design delivers a frequency response spanning from 16Hz all the way up to 60kHz.
Some of the audio highlights include a custom Hi-Fi DAC developed in partnership with Cirrus Logic, offering 113db dynamic range. Native 96kHz/24-bit audio playback and up to 4.6Mbps lossless transmission over Wi-Fi. There is support for LE Audio tech, ISOC architecture and the LC3 codec, reducing latency to as low as 42ms, making the buds great for gaming.
vivo TWS 5 Pro
The buds have a four-microphone array with Deep Sea Smart Noise Cancellation 2.0 and up to 60db and 5,500Hz of noise cancellation bandwidth, up to 99.9% lifestyle noise suppression, and adaptive noise cancellation and transparency modes. There are dedicated ANC profiles for airplanes, subways and buses, a sleep aid mode and an immersion mode. There is also a VPU bone conduction microphone for voice calls, up to 100dB environmental call noise reduction and up to 99% wind noise reduction.
The TWS 5 Pro support up to three simultaneous connections, feature pressure-sensitive touch controls with support for customizable gestures, including playback controls, call handling, noise cancellation mode switching, and slide-based volume adjustment. They also have an IP54 ingress protection rating.
The TWS 5 Pro have wireless charging and fast charging support. vivo says that they can get up to two hours of playback from a 5-minute charge. They are rated for up to 5h of playback in Wi-Fi mode and 11 hours in AAC Bluetooth mode (50 hours total, including the charging case battery).
