    In an official collaboration with Aloe Blacc, virtual DJ kai.wav has cemented a brand new, soul-fueled house rendition of Blacc’s 2010 global hit, “I Need A Dollar.” An anime-designed product of web3 record label Hume, kai.wav burst on to the scene earlier this year, on March 15th, with an official remix of Norwegian dance veteran Matoma‘s 2022 single, “The Power.” Now, kai.wav returns with the world’s first official rework of “I Need A Dollar.”

    “There aren’t many people I would trust to re-imagine ‘I Need A Dollar,’” says Grammy-nominated R&B icon Aloe Blacc. The “Wake Me Up” singer added,

    “Kai.wav is literally ushering in the future of music. I’m proud to be a part of this collaboration.”

    “I Need A Dollar” is poised to elevate summer spirits, aided by an intoxicating dose of nostalgia. The record will surely drive the rising metastar’s career to new heights in an experimental, virtual dance space.

    Gene Wilder House Once Owned By Elon Musk Back On Market

    A piece of Hollywood real estate history is back up for grabs … the Gene Wilder home in Bel Air … and the place is pretty eclectic.

    The late actor’s former home has just been listed for sale at $12,950,000 … and it’s got a pretty interesting history … including some links to Elon Musk.

    Gene bought the place way back in 1976 for about $300K … making the big purchase after his 1974 movie “Young Frankenstein” became a hit.


    The place has 4 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms and 2,750 square feet of living space … plus a kidney-shaped pool in the backyard, overlooking the Bel-Air Country Club golf course.

    Wilder lived there for decades, until he sold the property in 2007 for $2.75 million … and in 2013, Musk snapped it up for $6.75 million.

    Elon owned a bigger — and newer — house across the street at the time … and Musk preserved Gene’s eclectic home, using it as a place to host parties and events.

    When Elon announced in 2020 he was selling all his physical possessions, he put the house on the market for $9.5 million … and made it clear he wanted the next owner to keep the home as is, instead of knocking it down and starting fresh.

    Ultimately, Elon made a deal with Gene’s nephew, Jordan Walker-Pearlman, who had grown up in the house with his famous uncle. Elon sold the place back to the family for $7 million … with the stipulation Jordan would not alter the home’s “soul.”

    Elon lent Jordan and his wife, screenwriter Elizabeth Hunter, $6.7 million — and in October 2020 the sale closed … and Gene’s home was saved.

    Now, Gene’s place is back up for sale … hitting the market the same day the Wall Street Journal reports Jordan and Elizabeth have fallen behind on loan payments.

    The WSJ also reports an entity tied to Musk recently filed a notice of default on the home … an early step in the foreclosure process.

    Elon can reportedly force a sale in the next few months … and it appears Jordan and Elizabeth are going to try to sell the place before the deadline.

    Our sources say Gene’s family and Elon share the same wish here … for the house to keep its original soul … and we’re told that will be part of the deal.

    Instagram’s testing out new profile cards with selected creators, which provide another way to highlight your profile, and showcase your content.

    As you can see in this example, shared by Goldie Chan, Intagram’s updated profile cards are digitally flippable, providing a QR code for immediate connection on one side, and a profile overview and summary on the other.

    The profile overview includes your image and bio, as well as your profile category and business links.

    It’s a handy summary of your IG presence, and it could serve as an easy way to get more people to connect in the app, with a simple scan and follow process.

    Though how many people will actually use them is the question. Instagram has had QR codes for profiles since 2018, but few people seem to be aware of them, and thus actually put them to use.

    Instagram has changed the format a few times, and moved around where they are in the app, which probably hasn’t helped. But various versions of its QR codes have been there for some time.

    And now, seemingly, IG is keen to make a push on QR codes once again, with the platform also adding QR codes for Broadcast Channels back in June.

    So will QR codes catch on this time, and get more people scanning in digital links to access your profile in the app?

    I mean, it’s not likely to be a game changer, despite being a cool looking addition, though it does provide another option for highlighting your IG presence, and giving more people a means to access your content.

    Maybe Instagram should also look to print out hard copies of these cards for creators to use, like it did with its Threads profile cards to mark its first birthday.

    That’d be cool, though obviously a lot more cost prohibitive.

    You’ll have to settle for IG profile cards for now.

    You can access your IG QR code by tapping on the “Share profile” option on your profile. The new profile cards are currently in limited testing.

    Presidential Candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Announces Vice Presidential Running Mate

    It’s difficult to discern whether the doldrums currently afflicting the independent candidacy of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. are directly attributable to the evaporation of a Biden-Trump contest that generated support for Kennedy or just the decline that usually afflicts independent candidates as Election Day nears.

    But there’s no question things are not looking good for Team RFK Jr. In the FiveThirtyEight polling averages, he was receiving 8.7 percent of the national popular vote when Joe Biden dropped out of the race on July 21; he’s at 4.9 percent now. And he’s been losing ground for a while; in May he was at over 10 percent in the FiveThirtyEight averages, and some individual polls put him in the mid-to-high teens. Probably the best guess for what has happened is that Kamala Harris is attracting a significant number of previous “double hater” voters attracted to Kennedy out of loathing for Biden and Trump, particularly among young and Latino voters. And Trump has eaten away a bit at Kennedy’s support thanks to a favorability boost he received from surviving an assassination attempt. Meanwhile, Kennedy’s own campaign has been hamstrung by a necessary focus on securing ballot access, which has soaked up most of his money and much of his time as well. He’s on the ballot (according to the New York Times) in 19 states, including three battleground states (Georgia, Michigan, and North Carolina), and is having legal problems in others (a recent New York court decision invalidating his claimed residence there is having an indirect effect on ballot petitions elsewhere). And right now, his campaign is increasingly dependent on subventions from his running mate Nicole Shanahan’s considerable personal wealth.

    Is it possible Shanahan is tired of depleting her fortune on a crusade that’s going nowhere fast? Nobody knows, but this rather shocking admission by Shanahan in an interview suggests she and Bobby are thinking about bagging it all in order to “join forces with Donald Trump”:

    There’s two options that we’re looking at and one is staying in, forming that new party, but we run the risk of a Kamala Harris and Waltz presidency because we draw more votes from Trump.

    Or we walk away right now and join forces with with Donald Trump and explain to our base why we’re making this decision.

    If you listen to what Shanahan actually says, she’s explaining the two options are staying in at the risk of helping Harris and explicitly or implicitly backing Trump. It’s no secret that during the Republican National Convention Kennedy met with the 45th president to discuss … well, Trump’s camp said they discussed a Kennedy endorsement, and Kennedy said they just chitchatted about “national unity.” Now the cat is fully out of the bag, and a possible endorsement is on the table. Probably the best way to understand this is as a sort of attempt to determine what Trump’s willing to offer to either make the independents go away or join the merry MAGA band.

    There is significant evidence that the Kennedy candidacy really is hurting Trump more than Harris at this point in the election cycle, so it’s entirely possible that the famously transactional former president will be willing to practice the art of the deal in this case. Presumably Kennedy and Shanahan are at least open to eating their words about Democrats and Republicans being an indistinguishable “uniparty” of infernal corporate and bureaucratic interests and perhaps emphasize points of agreement with Trump such as hostility to vaccine mandates (and indeed, to the “deep state” where tyrants like Anthony Fauci lurk).

    However it goes, Shanahan’s remarks are clearly alienating some people in Bobbyland:

    Perhaps Kennedy will ask Shanahan to walk it all back, but for the moment the initiative lies with Trump to make an offer. It’s anybody’s guess what a Kennedy endorsement of Trump would actually do to the presidential campaign, since head-to-head polls still show Harris with a small lead and a lot of momentum. If Kennedy and Shanahan do stick it out, the future doesn’t look that great: Kennedy is far from the kind of poll showings that would get him onto a Harris-Trump debate stage, and that was probably his grand strategy for a late revival before Biden dropped out and changed everything. Does RFK Jr. really envision himself as occupying a subcabinet post or becoming executive director of a Presidential Commission on Conspiracies in a Trump administration? We may soon find out.
