Restaurant Week New York City allows us to eat at NYC’s best restaurants twice a year for bargain prices. Every Winter (Jan/Feb) and Summer (July/Aug), some of our best restaurants offer prix-fixe meals for $30, $45 or $60.

• The three-course, prix-fixe meals for $29 (lunch) and $42 (dinner) do not include beverages, tip or tax.
• Most restaurants do not participate during the weekends, so don’t expect a Saturday night prime time table during Restaurant Week in NYC.
• Review the menu in advance, as there are usually fewer choices on the RW menu. If you have eating restrictions, you may be limited.
• Monday to Wednesday reservations tend to be easier to get than those for Thursday and Friday.
• When making a reservation, be sure to mention you are booking for Restaurant Week.
• When being seated, ask for the Restaurant Week menu if it is not offered.
• Tip the server based on the usual price of the meal, not the Restaurant Week price, especially if you’ve had good service. Remember, the server is (or should be) doing their job exactly as they normally do when meals are full priced.

Favorite Kid’s Things to do in NYC

Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum

We loved the Intrepid! We learned a ton about different old and new war planes and ships and got to take a lot of cool pictures with all of them. The museum itself is on the the former aircraft carrier USS Intrepid, which fought in World War II, surviving five kamikaze attacks and one torpedo strike. Then it went on to serve in the Cold War and the Vietnam War.

Statue of Liberty

Luckily, there are dozens of ways to see the Statue of Liberty. You can just stand on the southernmost tip of Manhattan and look at her all you want. You can take the free Staten Island Ferry, about 1.5 hours total and get a fairly close view from the water. Another option is a boat cruise to Liberty Island to walk around. And the ultimate visit, of course, would include going into the Statue of Liberty Museum and/or climbing to Lady Liberty’s crown.

The Bronx Zoo

The world-famous Bronx Zoo boasts more than 6,000 animals, from aardvarks to zebras, across 265 acres. Here Lies Love Broadway Musical

Here Lies Love is a groundbreaking American musical about the Filipino people from the brilliant minds of David Byrne (Academy Award®, Grammy Award®, and Tony Award® winner + front man of Talking Heads) and Fatboy Slim (Grammy Award® winner) and stars an all-Filipino cast. The theatre is transformed into a dance club where the audience is immersed in the journey of former Filipina First Lady Imelda Marcos and the Philippine People Power Revolution. It’s NYC’s biggest dance party and you do not want to miss it. Previews June 17, 2023, Opens July 20, 2023. Ages 13 +.

Ticketing Options – Broadway Theatre is transformed into a club and the audience is immersed in the show, so Here Lies Love is completely different than the usual Broadway watching and the ticket options are different. The show will have two shows each (matinée & evening) on both Saturday and Sunday, runs 90 minutes and no intermission.

• Floor (Standing) – Stand on the dance floor (no seats). Dancing is encouraged. You’ll be guided around the performance space throughout the 90-minute show and will stand and move with the actors. All coats, bags, and personal belongings must be checked. Wheelchair tickets are available on the floor.
• Floorside Seats – Elevated seating alongside the dance floor, with two rows of chairs located directly above the action happening right in front of you. You’ll enjoy the show from a point of view that was designed specifically for this experience. Accessible seating is located in Floorside Sections 1 and 2.
• Front Mezzanine – Seated in a traditional theater seat, while still close to the action. The performance extends up to you from the dance floor just below, with actors performing throughout the entire space.

Macy’s Santaland NYC

Santa kicks off the holiday season the day after the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and gladly welcomes your children for a photo opp through Christmas Eve. Santaland is home to a 13,000-square-foot Christmas Village, which is like an amusement park ride or tour – there’s no quick way through it and you’ll have to go with the crowds. However, they now offer a Santa Express Lane Pass on weekends. You’ll still be waiting a while, but it’s a local and tourist favorite during the holiday season.

Bryant Park Christmas Tree Lighting

November 28, 2023, 6:00pm–7:00pm

Winter Village at Bryant Park will kick off the holiday season with a live countdown and ceremonious lighting of its iconic Holiday Tree. The 50-foot tree has more than 3,000 ornaments and tens of thousands of lights. Don’t forget to browse through the amazing Bryant Park Holiday gift fair and take a spin on their FREE Ice Rink.

• Broadway stars and co-hosts Jessica Vosk and Jelani Remy
• Performances by world-class skaters Mirai Nagasu, Polina Edmunds, Ryan Bradley, Ice Theatre of New York young apprentices Oona and Gage Brown, the Haydenettes, and Figure Skating in Harlem

Celebrate the season at the 26th Annual Holiday Lighting in Central Park. Meet Santa and friends, sing carols on the Plaza, and take part in other seasonal festivities. The event concludes with lighting a flotilla of trees on the Harlem Meer.

Christmas Dinner in New York City

Some restaurants are open on Christmas in New York City, though not nearly as many as on Thanksgiving. Open restaurants post their Christmas Menus and begin accepting online reservations for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in late October or early November.

CLOSED – Annual Winter’s Eve at Lincoln Square

2021 Update: “We are planning a new and different holiday celebration by offering the community and visitors a month-long series of smaller pop-up family friendly performances and activations for everyone to enjoy. Although we are bringing back a holiday tree at Dante Park, a large tree lighting celebration will remain on pause. ”

Stores, restaurants, cultural organizations and public spaces in the district will be buzzing with activities for both children and adults. At the same time, sidewalks along Broadway from Time Warner Center at Columbus Circle to 68th Street will be alive with performers, street musicians, jugglers, stilt-walkers and more, making for a festive fun-filled stroll through the streets of this dynamic Upper West Side neighborhood.
