Redmi is launching the Note 17 series in China this month, but the global models could still be many months away, if history is any indication. Anyway, when they do arrive in other markets, they may be very different compared to their Chinese counterparts, as usually happens.
Now BIS has certified a Redmi device with the model number 2607DRA18I and a Poco device with the model number 2607DPC18I, and these may in fact be the exact same phone under two different names – it would definitely not be the first time Redmi and Poco pulled something like that.

The Redmi version is rumored to be the global Note 17, while the Poco handset is rumored to be called Poco M8 Plus, succeeding the Poco M7 Plus which launched in August last year. The Redmi Note 17 will be the successor to the Redmi Note 15, as Redmi has decided to follow in Xiaomi’s footsteps and skip the number 16.
It’s unclear how similar the global Redmi Note 17 will be to the Chinese model, but the latter is now expected to sport a 6.83-inch flat screen with a “1.5K” resolution, and to be powered by the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 SoC. It should also have a 9,000 mAh battery with support for 67W fast wired charging and a 50MP main camera. All of these features may or may not make it to the global model as well as the Poco M8 Plus, it remains to be seen.
