Official One UI 8 rollout starts for Samsung Galaxy S25 series

by California Digital News

The wait is finally over. If you own a Samsung Galaxy S25 series phone, you should be on the lookout for a One UI 8 OTA update notification. It should be noted that the rollout is staged and will not happen simultaneously in every market and for every device, so some patience is still needed.

Samsung also provided an official list of devices that will get the update “later this year.” Samsung does not guarantee that all One UI 8 features will reach every eligible model. Also, not all features will be available to every market. The said list is as follows:

Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold6, Galaxy Z Flip6, Galaxy S24 FE, Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold5, Galaxy Z Flip5, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy Z Fold4, Galaxy Z Flip4, Galaxy S21 FE, Galaxy Tab S10 series, Galaxy Tab S10 FE, Galaxy Tab S10 Lite, Galaxy Tab S9 series, Galaxy Tab S9 FE, Galaxy Tab S8 series, Galaxy A56 5G, Galaxy A36 5G, Galaxy A26 5G, Galaxy A17 5G, Galaxy A17, Galaxy A07, Galaxy A06 5G, Galaxy A55 5G, Galaxy A35 5G, Galaxy A25 5G, Galaxy A16 5G, Galaxy A16, Galaxy A15 5G, Galaxy A06, Galaxy A54 5G, Galaxy A34 5G, Galaxy A73 5G, Galaxy A53 5G and Galaxy A33 5G

Samsung highlights One UI 8’s abilities to recognize user context and proactively offer suggestions that support the user’s daily routine. Some new features include the Now Bar, which shows real-time app activity, particularly media player status, with more third-party integrations on the way. Then there is also Now Brief, which is an interface that provides personalized daily updates on things like traffic and reminders, as well as entries from Samsung Moments. Now Brief also surfaces things like music and video suggestions based on your interests. Of course, Samsung continues its close cooperation with Google and includes Gemini Live and Circle to Search.

Of course, with the extra push towards additional AI comes extra privacy concerns, which Samsung is addressing as best it can. One UI 8 brings Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP) to the table, which, among other things, runs apps in their own isolated sandbox environment and protects your sensitive information from them. There is also the Knox Matrix, which automatically signs out risky devices from your Samsung account.

One UI 8 also promises to accommodate different device form factors, specifically foldables, better. There is a new AI Results View which displays AI results in a Floating View or a Split View. You can also drag and drop AI-generated content, such as text and images, from the AI Results View onto other apps, like Floating View or Split View.

Of course, last but not least, One UI 8 will bring Samsung’s widely-publicized new clock design that adapts to the user’s wallpaper, stretching and wrapping automatically around contours and things like faces.
