HVAC distributor JMP consolidates in Greensboro with $30M investment

James M. Pleasants Co., a distributor and sales representative for HVAC, plumbing and industrial equipment, will consolidate its Greensboro operations into a new facility, creating 40 jobs over five years, according to the company. The company known as JMP is making a $30 million investment in Guilford County as its makes the changes.

The company’s project in Greensboro will bring together its headquarters, distribution, and light manufacturing operations into a single facility.

“When a North Carolina company like JMP looks over its options and decides to grow in Guilford County, it’s further proof we’re the best place to do business in America,” says Gov. Roy Cooper in a release.

JMP serves as a manufacturers’ representative for commercial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment, as well as plumbing equipment and accessories. The company also manufactures commercial pump skids, devices that manage fluid transfer, circulation, and control. JMP has 13 locations in five southeastern states.

“JMP has been growing in North Carolina for more than 65 years and we are very excited to continue our growth in this state,” says Chuck Moore, vice president of operations.

JMP is adding sales, operational, and manufacturing personnel. The average salary for the new jobs will be $64,250, compared with Guilford’s average of $58,843.

The company began in 1958 and has been employee owned since 1983, according to its website.

JMP is receving a grant of $35,000 from the One North Carolina Fund, based on the company’s investment and the creation of 19 jobs over three years. The OneNC Fund provides financial assistance to local governments to help attract economic investment and to create jobs.
