Truckee home near Tahoe lists for record-breaking price

The hot Northern California luxury market is seeing yet another potentially record-breaking entry with the listing of a mansion near Lake Tahoe.

The 10213 Birchmont Court estate in Truckee’s Martis Camp golf and ski community  just hit the market for $18 million — the most expensive home listing for the mountain town. Should it sell at its list price, the mansion would break the record for Truckee set earlier this year by another Martis Camp property.

“This … private estate is well-positioned to obtain a record sales price at the asking price of $18 million given the most recent sale at $15 million earlier in the year in Martis Camp,” said Compass real estate agent Samantha Swigard.

The 9,000-square-foot home sits on 2.4 acres with forest and mountain views, including Northstar California Resort’s Lookout Mountain. Inside, the mansion has six bedrooms, six bathrooms and two half-bathrooms.

Other amenities include a 1,482-square-foot patio, a children’s wing with a lounge and nanny suite, a wine cellar, seven fireplaces and an outdoor wood-fired pizza oven. The dining room also has multi-slide glass doors that disappear into the walls when open, a design aimed at giving diners the feel of being in the forest.
