DMV of California News Release
DMV gives 1-year extension to senior drivers with expiring licenses for Californians age 70 years and older.
Driver license with an expiration date between March 1 and December 31, 2020 extending to 2021.
While the new extensions are automatic, drivers will not receive a new card or paper extension in the mail.

It is important emphasis that if your driver license has suspended and you are NOT eligible for a temporary paper extension.
The extension for senior drivers is to help Californian seniors avoid or delay offrices visit during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Here is the summary of California driver license extension.
Age 70 and older driver license expiration month of March thru December 2020. For example, if your driver license expires on July 1, 2020 and it means it will extend one year from July 1, 2020 to July 1, 2021 or a little bit early.
